So it takes only a bit of an effort to put a stop to his plan. However, some dogs are so very unpredictable and take off at a breakneck speed in the flash of an eye! One of the first things that you need to train your dog to do are to make him obey commands. This will take time, but if you are consistent enough it will quite definitely yield results. Place some favorite object of his at a certain distance from him. His first instinct will be run to it, but with a sharp ‘No’ stop him from doing so.

Remember this will not work the first time or even the second or the third. It may take quite a while until he knows that he should not touch it although he yearns for it. When he has finally imbibed the command, engage the assistance of a friend and get him to jog or drive by and see if the dog chases him. If he does, then give him the same command that you had been giving him when he attempted to take his favorite object.

Eventually he will learn that chasing is not to be indulged in. Keep in mind that training him to stop dog chasing should be a pleasure for both master and pet.

Remember, never punish your dog if he does not obey you when you train him. Keep in mind that your dog is just an animal and will only get baffled when you punish it. It is not easy to train a dog and get him into the groove of obeying you.

One way you can make him understand that you do not appreciate what he is doing is to ignore him completely. If you persist he will gradually learn to obey.
